The inaugural Contemporary Art Society Annual Award has been won by The Graves Art Gallery Museums Sheffield for a commission by Kateřrina Šedá.
Launched to celebrate the Contemporary Art Society’s centenary the award funds the commissioning of a work in the context of a historical or modern museum collection. Šedá will show a work as part of Art Sheffield 10 and complete the new commission Líšeň Profile, from her base in the Czech Republic, before the end of the year.
Dream, by Jaume Plensa, commissioned by former miners and St Helens Council as part of Channel4's Big Art Project, has won the annual Marsh Award for Public Sculpture.
