Kube, Poole is due to close at the end of January after Bournemouth and Poole College made the decision to withdraw it's revenue support shortly before Christmas.
As public sector cuts begin to take hold we are saddened to report on another VAGA member in difficulty, in this case its seems the gallery has lost out to the demands of frontline teaching.
The landmark glass building, designed by architect Richard Horden and built with the support of £1.8 million from the Arts Lottery and opened in 2000, also houses the College’s £750,000 art collection. It is the only sizeable visual arts space between Southampton and the Tate Gallery in St Ives, Cornwall.
A 'Save the KUBE' campaign has been launched by local artists and can be found on Facebook.
