Peacock Visual Arts Centre Plan for Union Terrace Gardens Under Threat - Make Your Views Known

PDFPrintE-mail

The public consultation on the future of Union Terrace Gardens in Aberdeen has begun.  This massive consultation is only about Sir Ian Wood' s favoured scheme for a City Square and will not be consulting the people of Aberdeen on Peacock Visual Arts' scheme to deliver a new international cultural centre for Aberdeen in the Gardens and which has full planning permission and over 75% of its funding in place.

Sir Ian's favoured scheme involves the complete destruction of the Gardens. It will cost £140 million+ of which £70 million+ must come from the public purse. It will involve the felling of 80 mature trees. Peacock's scheme by award-winning architects Brisac Gonzalez would regenerate the Gardens and welcome over 200,000 visitors per year at a fraction of the cost to the public purse and the environment.

The public consultation doesn't include Peacock but it gives the opportunity to make your opinion on the City Square known.  It only takes two minutes but could have a huge effect on the future of Aberdeen. Closing date 5 March.
